It can be relax day at beach hotel including Snorkeling, horseback riding , or stay in Historical Granada, or Solentiname, or Bird watching, or national parks, or Rainforest discovery.....

 

On ariving we will wait for you at Managua International Airport and  for first night . You  may decide to stay close from Airport at HOTEL BEST WESTERN LAS MERCEDES  or decide to go to enjoy so beautiful city of  Granada ( 1 hour away ) in such a case I sugest to rest at HOTEL COLONIAL or at HOTEL  ALHAMBRA both located in the Historical center and Diner at SAYANG.

Day1  

Ariving in Nicaragua at Managua International Airport  Your fishing guide or a representative of Hotel will be waiting  at the airport ,  if your flight arive after 3 pm I recomand to sleep at Las Merceds close to airport relax there and fly folowing day with La costena Airline if flight coming before 3 pm I sugest the folowing  transfert in van to Granada with may be a stop, at Massaia artisanal market and why not a canopy ride on a volcano , Diner will be in Romantic Granada ( Dinner is not include ...as experience show than guests prefer this part open... all depend what you wish ...there is an extra cost for this Granada stay. There is a lot  of very nice restaurant in town and very reasonably price...Our best Choice EL SAYANG )  , Night at  Hotel COLONIAL in the historical center of town ....

In case of stay at  Hotel Mercedes  it is also a nice place to stay  Bar, Restaurant, , Swiming pools..Convenient as Disco, Casino Night life are 30 minuts away.....

 

Day2  

 Early Breakfast at Colonial, Transfert to Airport  to catch  the morning flight of La Costena airline to San Carlos 50 mn  over the Lake of Nicaragua, Omotepe Volcanoes , Solentiname archipelago..., Mary, Sarah or Your Fishing guide will wait for you at the San Carlos Airport  We will  put your Luggage at our Guest House ,will have a quick early  lunch ( You will probably be please to try the local "Bao" ) fishing will start around 10 /11 am or even earlier if you decide to have lunch aboard. In San juan river it would be a major surprise for me if you have to wait long before the first tarpon hit, fishing will stop at dark. We will have our Dinner at my guest House or in town at restaurant EL MIRADOR  or GRANADINO or LOS RANCHITOS we will look for the busy place of the day.., you will rest in your  clean and comfortable room with private bath at my Fishing lodge. On this same day we also may decide to imidiately go down river while fishing , and spend the Night in the new Lodge in Saballo..( Aditional cost of $ 60 per person  if two anglers due to extra gas..) .Lodging may also be at Monte Cristo Resort.

 

Day 3 

 Breakfast at Lodge  and Fishing will start at 6/7 am , Lunch aboard , or at the house of a friend of us in the jungles of Medio quesso. We will probably fish a bit there in this so beautiful jungle river, it's almost clear and very deep , some huge tarpon live there... Dinner will be at EL MIRADOR, night  in our new San Carlos Guest House ( From September 2003 )  or at Saballo Lodge and Clarissa Restaurant if we are fishing around Saballo Rodal del Toro...

 

Day4   

 Breakfast at Lodge  and Fishing will start at 6/7 am , lunch aboard  or at the house of a friend of us in the jungles of Medio quesso. We will probably fish a bit there in this so beautiful jungle river, it's almost clear and very deep , some huge tarpon live there... Dinner at EL MIRADOR, night  in our new San Carlos Guest House ( From September 2003 )  or at Saballo Lodge and Clarissa Restaurant if we are fishing around Saballo Rodal del Toro...or in our new San Carlos Guest House ( From September 2003 )

 

Day5   

 Program will be almost the same than on Day4 .Note: We also may decide on Day 3 or  4 to spend the night in ALBERGUE El CASTILLO down on San Juan River ( Good fishing here also. A close town is called Saballo witch mean Tarpon in Spanish... and a lot of history, the large fortress on top of the hill has been built to protect the Nicaragua lake/Granada from pirates attacks ).

We also may go to the beautiful Solentiname archipelagon ( located in the lake, 40 mn by boat from San Carlos, more than 100 islands ) fishing is famous there for Rainbow bass , .We would stay at Hotel Mancaron, hotel Paraiso   or at the Famous Hospedage of the comunity founded by Ernesto Cardenal 

(Note in case you decide for one of these two options please add $ 60 per person per option on the price of the trip. Due to hotel prices and gas expenses Option1 El Castillo , Option2 Solentiname..)

 

Day6  

 Another full day Fishing around San Carlos or Solentiname or El Castillo , we will decide together

 

Day7 

Early morning fishing, Breakfast. Transfert to San Carlos Airport, Fly  to Managua, for conecting your international fly.

Note. On day 6 we also can decide to fish early morning close to San Carlos , then enter in Costa Rica ( Fishing there ) , sleep in Los Chiles at El Gaspar , and have you transfert on day7 to San Jose for your flight back. ( In such a case you should ask Your international Airline for an OPEN JAWS TICKET, Entry by Managua, Departure via San Jose....all major companies: American, Continental, Delta do offer this service. Exist possibility of an Extansion of trip for aditional Fishing in  Rio Frio, Cano Negro in Costa Rica, and return via San Jose airport

*Lodging  

On arrival and departure days..  Hotel nights are include in San Jose and Managua , there is an extra cost in case of Hotel night in Granada.

Lodging is always in best hotel in San Jose,( Del Rey,  President, Santo Thomas...)  Managua ( Las Mercedes) or  Granada ( Colonial, Alhambra..) 

On fishing grounds 

     1) Lodging at Our base  "La esquina del Lago" is include I am the owner of this New  Exclusive Guest House , 7000 Square feet building on my 30 acres land water fronts Borders are: Nicaragua lake, Rio San Juan Rio Frio  

     2) In case you wish to go down river ..40 miles away and stay At Hotel Saballo , Hospedage El castillo please add $ 60 per person , due to Gaz and Hotel cost 

     3) If we go fishing for Rainbow bass at Solentiname archipelago and stay a night there we will stay  At Hotel Mancaron or Hotel Paraiso , extra cost will also be of $60 per person.

 

*All Food meals, and Soft Drinks,   at My guest house of " La Esquina del Lago " we have special atention on quality of meals, Local and French International cuisine, Bao, River scrimps, Paella..I also have a private free  " Open bar" were guests can enjoy local and International drinks..and our free Cuban Cigars... Apart from main meals , Fruits, Snacks, and soft drinks in cooler aboard the boats... 

We always have   purified water for our Guests aboard and at Lodge , Obviously Ice for drinks is done with purified water...

 

* Fishing permits You come for Fishing not to wait in a government office... Previous to your fishing adventure all will be ready... we will need you send us Passport # and full name of guests in your party..

 

*Professional fishing guides, Experienced Captain and Mate 5 years  than they are working  with us: "Tarpon fishing Tournament winner".

 We fish 2 angler ( Eventually 3 angler )  2 guides  per boat Captain/Guide  and Mate, One driving the boat, other  in charge of fishing.

 Obviously our Captains and guides will share with you their Knowledge on all aspect of tarpon, snook, rainbow bass fishing.

 

*BOATS and Gas   Your fishing will be  aboard  one of our Julia Brava #1, #2, or #3  or our new 22 feet  bots built especially for our fishing. ( Julia Brava's are also  Sport fishing , central console T top boat , 24 to 27 feet long, Engine Yamaha 85hp, and 115 Hp , all safety equipment aboard, etc...) 

 

*Professional Fishing Tackles, Conventional Spinning and Bait casting, 100 rods and reels to choose from..( 8lb to 30lb test line for tarpon ) 500 lures.. also Fly-fishing equipment, SAGE rods # 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 , Reels BILLY PATE...500 flies..

 

*Fishing  generally   from 6 am till 6 pm.. It can be up to 12 hours a day.. You decide with guide the hour you want to start fishing , some Guests like to not get up to early during these fishing vacation but usualy   Fishing day start at 6 am at sun rise and end with dark around 6 pm  In case of fish on and dark coming if you agree we will fight the fish at night...None of my  guide like to cut a line...We also can  organize on request and no additional cost some Night fishing close to lodge if wanted..Bass, Machaca, Mojara are under the lodge...This is include... 

 

* We like to move and discover Fishing is anywhere in the area  San Juan River/ Rio Frio /Cano negro/El castillo/Nicaragua lake/Solentiname/Guatousso Wild life reserve.. ....

 In case we go to  Solentiname, Saballo Lodge or El castillo we will add $ 60 per guest  due to extra gas Expenses...   Fishing in Costa Rica is in  Rio Frio, Cano Negro

*Dinner in day1 and last day In San Jose or Managua/ Granada , as experience show than guest prefer this part of their fishing vacation " open ".. on request I will provide a listing of good place to go  ( If needed  I also can include these dinners..) 

 

*Tips to your Fishing guides, in no way an obligation,"only if you are happy of their service"  ( for excellent service it's the same as U.S.; 7% to 10% of your trip cost)

 

*Airport Departures taxes are not include.

 

* Entry and departure tax for Nicaragua if coming via San Jose( $12 per person.)

Booking and reservations 

1) Your party can be of 1 till 10 persons witch is normally the maximum number of Guests we accept per week  ( If larger group we will have to organize together and long before the trip a special logistic ..)

 

2) After we agree on Arrival and departure dates , a  deposit of 40% of total trip cost will be  necessary to confirm your  reservation, it will have  to be done by wire Transfer to our Bank Account open at Scotia Bank in Costa Rica. I will forward you  the precise instruction to be given to your bank.  Balance paiement is due on day 1.

 

3 )  Careful  concerning Reservation  ,  if you wish a precise week...early reservation is necessary... In some case as long as  a year in advance... the more busy months are from December  till April  This is due  not to better fishing but to winter Vacations time for North American .  100% TRUE:   there is no Peak season .. Fishing for our Giant tarpon is good all year round... Same for Rainbow bass, please consult me for  Big Snook.

 

4) Valid passport Necessary. No need of any vaccination, No mosquitoes around...

 

5) For fishing permit, We will  request previous to arrival  full Name and Passport number of all person in your party
