Another great trip from the 5th till the 14th of February with Jean Jacques and Sebastien ( Father and son Coming from France.).. I guess they had a good time as they told me than they will be back soon with four additional friends of them...
Guests did arrive at San Jose Airport where I was waiting for them on the 5 of February. We imidiately did left San Jose Direction Sarcero... With a stop at the Mirador overlooking the entire central valley we went for the night to so nice Bed And Breakfast Don Beto located in the mountains of Sarcero...The hospitality of Dona Flory and Luis is well known...Following morning we left early to reach Los Chiles via the Coffe, Sugar Cane, Orange Grove plantations... We past closed to Arenal who unfortunately was covered with Clouds... Did stop for our traditional breakfast ( Gallo Pinto and Co ) at the Iguana Place of Carlos ( 350 big wild Iguanas..and free around his place ). Augusto was waiting for us , Boat ready in Los Chiles... so after a quick immigration work we did enter Nicaragua via the Rio Frio River....with several stops on our way to admire the jungle Scenery, the Birds, the Monkeys...We had a quick early lunch at Hotel San Carlos of DONA JUANITA while Augusto was doing the Paper Work... and fishing did start

On this same afternoon we had several Tarpon on...and release to the boats...Followings days has been as successful concerning fishing ..with really many tarpon some around 200lb..on 40lb , 30lb , 20 lb..We released many but I specifically .I remember of one we lost after 1 hour on line...Fish did jump two time on the beginning then went down for a bottom fight...Sebastien was starting to be very confident ( even if fish was a 200lb ) and suddenly total surprise, one jump, touch the water another jump, touch the water another jump....7 jumps in sequence. all of a show, and all jump different until fish did finally quit the lure.......Sebastien was fascinated ..disappointed also ...but for a short time as two hour later he made it releasing another tarpon to the boat....

Something funny did also Happen in that trip ..there where two very nice young couples from USA Going down San Juan River on a big Wooden boat, No engine, only a paddle they where floating the current having their lunch ...a nice way to discover " the Markt twain / Gold Rush/ Vanderbilt road " They where in the middle of San Juan River...exactly in one of our fishing spot.. , so we past close to them , trolling.., to say Hello also ..they realize than they should not be there ... ( Navigation have some rules even in our Jungle ) and said " sorry " in a very friendly way.. We did exchange a few work , telling them where they can sleep at night..etc.. and I said " No Problem Bon petit , enjoy your lunch , do not worry but I had as a Joke , careful when the lines will pass close to your boat than a tarpon do take it and Jump in your boat..." a silence, a few second and Splash a Tarpon ( same around 200lb ) took the Rapalla and did jump at 2 meters from them, splashing water in their boat....

We also went to Solentiname Archipelago to also very successfully catch Rainbow bass...and stay at so nice Hospedage Solentiname of Ernesto Cardenal..
On the 11th we left Nicaragua for Costa Rica where we stayed for three Additional days of tourism...During these days from San Jose where guests was staying at HOTEL PRESIDENTE in center of the city , we went to Arenal Volcano, to the artisans center of Sarchi, to national park of VOLCAN IRAZU, the Jungle Waterfall located above Heredia..We did visit San Jose..etc etc... really we saw a lot ... Since 10 years than I am living in Costa Rica I know a lot of charming place " Off the Traditional tourist beaten tracks" than I like to show to my Guests..

Well JEAN JACQUES and SEBASTIEN , really did enjoy the trip so much than we are already working on planning as they want to come back with 4 other friends sometime at the end of this year....

I also like to mention than it has been for us a major pleasure to spend a week with so nice persons...and experimented also , since many year Jean Jacques is travelling the world for Fishing and...Hunting...You should listen to him counting his hunting experience in Asia , Africa...and also his fights with the NILLS PERCH...

A bientot Jean Jacques.

Philippe Tisseaux.
