Fishing REPORT #32   14, 15th,16th of March

We had the pleasure in this trip to receive Etienne Vanoye owner of Hotel Colonial In Granada , Etienne has been fishing with us last year , it is always a great pleasure for us to see guests coming back...Etienne came with two friends also from France , Jean pierre who is a Very famous chef in Philadelphia USA , and Bertrand who is still living in france but visiting Nicaragua every two months...

The goal of this trip was fishing but also Discovery of El Castillo area witch is located 35 miles down San Juan River from San Carlos...So in a so short trip we relatively had a lot of time in Transfert, By boat in beautiful Jungles of San Juan River... but really many hours...

Our friends arived at 10 am on the 14th at San Carlos Airport Coming from Managua, We where waiting for them , a Taxi to the pier and everybody aboard... Heading Directly down River for Saballo, No time, no fishing in our Traditional area of Medio Quesso, Santa fe, El Pitasso...A quick lunch in the little town ( very very simple lunch...) and fishing did start at 2.30 pm..to end at 4.15pm .We had 6 tarpons on line fishing the rapids in front of town...

Around 4.15 we decided to go down to El Castillo, with a stop to visit our friends of Monte Cristo where we will spend the night...we then went to El Castillo for a quick visit of town and a visit of the Fortress dominating the Rapids of San Juan River, Definitely El Castillo is a very nice place to stay, all town is very clean, there are bo cars....People are very friendly... We went back to Montecristo for a very nice River Scrimp dinner, we did rest in the Confort of the beautifull rooms..

Folowing day was raining early morning so we decide unstead of going fishing to enjoy the confort of the lodge...we left around 9am for fishing again in the rapids of Saballo, we had 6 Tarpons on, and a good size snook, some machacas also...on that day we fish till 1 pm then a lunch and went back up river in the direction of San Carlos.. we did fish one hour and a half in our favorite area of Isla del pitasso and did jump three tarpon

Dinner has been at our traditional Kaoma ( River Scrimps again ) a very funny and very late dinner, Night at Leykos..

Folowing morning it was dificult to get up for ,most of us but Etienne went fishing one hour with Augusto, in front of San Carlos, did not have tarpon but a small Machaca...

At 9am Everybody went to the Airport for the Transfert to Managua...

We had a lot of fun during all this trip, only real problem has been the rain...it has been raining almost during the all trip...Good than we had our Special Poncho aboard... But We were in the dry season??? so really a bad luck because this never happen ( rainy season or not ) so at this time of the year?? ( there was a depression on ths Caribean cost..This is the explanation but...).

Concerning the rain in our area . even in the rainy season we have very reasonable condition. It will rain yes but one hour then sun will come , Very Important the after rain moment is an optimum time for Fishing tarpon, this little change in Temperature make them imidiately agressive... So We like rain , it is a necessary part of our fishing ...but not like this time...
